Ryanair Unveils New Scratchcard Prizes, Including “Not Sitting Next to a Drunken Lout”
In a bold move to “enhance the passenger experience without enhancing the ticket price,” Ryanair has announced a new range of in‑flight scratchcard prizes, headlined by the airline’s most valuable reward to date: the right not to sit beside a drunken lout for the duration of the flight.
The announcement was made shortly after a flight from Alicante to Prestwick was forced to land early when two passengers began arguing over whose turn it was to use the armrest as a pillow. Ryanair insists the timing is “pure coincidence” and not part of a wider strategy to reduce mid‑air chaos by monetising it.
According to the airline, lucky winners will be escorted to a special “Premium Peace Seat,” located somewhere between rows 32 and 33, a mystical zone previously believed to contain only life jackets and the faint smell of despair.
Other new prizes include:
– “Immunity From Mid‑Air Brawls” – granting the winner diplomatic neutrality should a fight break out over crisps, perfume samples, or the meaning of “duty free.”
– “Five Minutes of Silence” – a rare and precious commodity on any Ryanair service.
– “A Seat That Actually Reclines” – though Ryanair has clarified this is metaphorical and should be interpreted “spiritually, not physically.”
A spokesperson for the airline said the new prizes “reflect the modern traveller’s priorities,” adding that passengers have repeatedly asked for “less legroom, more chaos, and a gambling‑based path to survival.”
Early customer feedback has been positive, with one frequent flyer describing the top prize as “the closest thing Ryanair has ever offered to luxury.”
