Jet2 Launches Revolutionary ‘Stairwell Challenge’ – The Ultimate ‘When the Fuck are we Boarding?’ Experience
In a bold move to outdo rivals in customer “immersion,” Jet2 has unveiled its brand-new Stairwell Experience, turning a simple boarding mishap into a signature feature that has passengers raving (or at least screaming).
Last week, over 35 holidaymakers bound for sunny Alicante were accidentally herded into a dead-end stairwell after a staff member shouted, “Follow me for the plane!” The group obediently descended into what one passenger described as “a concrete purgatory with fluorescent lighting and the faint whiff of regret.” They waited loyally for 40 minutes, clutching their 22kg baggage allowances, until the plane cheerfully took off without them.
Jet2 spokesperson Barry “Bags of Fun” McJet2 hailed it as “a game-changer.” “We heard the complaints and thought: why not lean in? Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday – especially when it starts with a surprise escape-room challenge! Our Stairwell Experience gives passengers that authentic ‘where the bloody hell is the plane?’ thrill before they even board. It’s like a budget Ryanair escape room, but with more stairs and zero prizes.”
Affected passengers were reportedly offered £10 vouchers for a “future Jet2 adventure,” redeemable only on stairwell-themed merchandise, including the new “I Survived the Stairwell” T-shirt (extra £15 for the irony print). One furious mum from Leeds told The Dafty: “I paid for a holiday, not a cardio workout in a fire exit! My kids thought we’d been kidnapped by the world’s most polite terrorists.”
Jet2 insists the Stairwell Experience will roll out across all UK airports, complete with motivational signage: “Keep Calm and Descend On!” and piped-in Jess Glynne tracks for maximum confusion.
A spokesperson added: “We’re investigating ourselves urgently – mostly to see if we can charge extra for the stairwell upgrade. After all, nothing beats a Jet2 holiday… unless you’re still stuck in the stairs.”
