It’s Raining Men – And Women and Non-Binary: Weather Girls Announce Title Update for 1982 Classic
In a move that has left meteorologists and disco purists alike reaching for their umbrellas, The Weather Girls have officially announced that their iconic 1982 hit “It’s Raining Men” will be re-titled to reflect modern inclusivity standards.
The new version, set for release next month, will be called “It’s Raining Men – And Women and Non-Binary”.
According to a spokesperson for the legendary duo, the decision came after “extensive consultation with the LGBTQIA+ community, several focus groups, and one very persistent TikTok activist who kept commenting ‘WHERE ARE THE ENBIES?’ under every performance clip.”
“We’ve always been about celebrating love in all its forms,” said original Weather Girl Martha Wash in a statement. “But apparently the sky is now gender-neutral, and we don’t want to leave anyone out when the forecast calls for heavy showers of attractive people.”
The updated lyrics promise to be “tastefully expanded” while preserving the song’s legendary energy. Early leaks suggest lines such as:
“Hallelujah, it’s raining men – and women and non-binary!
They’re gorgeous, they’re fabulous, they’re using they/them pronouns, see!”
Critics have already dubbed the re-title “the most unnecessarily long song name since ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction (But I’m Trying My Best)’ by The Rolling Stones.”
Meanwhile, meteorologists at the Met Office have issued a rare “Pronoun Advisory” for the weekend, warning of “scattered showers of attractive individuals of all gender identities, with a slight chance of confusion.”
The single will be available on all streaming platforms under the new title, though Spotify users are advised to update their playlists before the character limit is exceeded.
